Harvest for Hunger
Thank you to all the families who returned their Harvest for Hunger bags filled with food to restock the IPC Food Pantry. To help the children understand we give to others in response to God's love, they each brought a food item to chapel last week. We made a huge difference with all you shared. And, please remember the Food Pantry can always use your donations.

Blessings Bags for the Troops
Blessing Mix
To celebrate Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, our fabulous Social Studies teacher, Miss Betsy, helped our students prepare "Blessings Bags" for our service men and women. The blessing snack mix contained goodies that remind of us what we are thankful for and the children all shared in the task of putting the Bugles (Horn of Plenty), Pretzels (Arms folded in thanks and prayer), Candy Corn (Pilgrims eating limited amounts of corn when food was scarce), Seeds (Promise of future harvests), Fruit (Harvest gifts from the land), M&M's (Memories of those who came before us), and Hershey Kisses (Love of family and friends) in the bags. These sweet children are hoping to hear back from some of the recipients which will complete the circle.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! NO CELL PHONES!
We sometimes feel like a broken record, but we need to remind you one more time:
Please refrain from talking or texting on your cell phone while you are in the Day School carpool line. For the safety of everyone involved, we need to have your full attention on what you are doing. It is actually the law where many of your older children attend school. There are children and staff members whose safety depends on it! Continued noncompliance with our cell phone policy will result in you losing your carpool privilege.
Also, we want to encourage you to let your child know they are important to you. Being on the phone when they get out of the car to come in and start their day does not send them a comforting message. A "have a great day!" or "I can't wait to hear about your day later!" is worth volumes. Likewise, when we put them back in the car, your undivided attention is the appropriate response to their excited anticipation to see you and tell you about their day.
Your children are only this age once; a cell phone conversation is certainly not worth trading for their feeling of excitement, security, and safety.

Registration Information for Mountain Brook City Schools
Mountain Brook City Schools kindergarten this year can begin the process on Jan. 25.
Jan. 25 is the first day parents or guardians can create their child’s online student account on the Mountain Brook Schools district website. Parents or guardians will fill out their child’s demographic information on that website and be able to pay for kindergarten items including supplies and field trips.
This online step should be completed before attending on-site enrollment.
On-site enrollment takes place throughout February, depending on the elementary school.
- Mountain Brook Elementary: Feb. 3
- Brookwood Forest Elementary: Feb. 10
- Cherokee Bend Elementary: Feb. 17
- Crestline Elementary: Feb. 24
On-site enrollment takes place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the designated days.
When attending on-site enrollment, bring the following items:
- Proof of residency, such as a property deed, title insurance or current lease agreement (Note: If siblings are currently enrolled in Mountain Brook Schools and the family residence has not changed, proof of residency is not required.)
- Child’s Social Security card (voluntary). If a Social Security number is not available or not provided, an internal number will be assigned.
- Birth certificate or other proof of age.
- Certificate of immunization. The original blue form can be provided if a child is not 5 years old at the time of enrollment, and an updated form can be turned in after the child turns 5.
More information can be found at www.mtnbrook.k12.al.us.
